We would like to let everyone know that for the first time, there are going to
be children's activities organized for the upcoming Shri Krishna Puja seminar
in Canajoharie. Several things are in the works, but here are a few that are
in place:
- A Children's Tent: a large tent set up just for children. This is not a
sleeping tent; rather, there will be tables with projects
for different age levels, maybe some songs, and also an infant/toddler
area. This tent will be especially nice in the hot part of the day when it's
hard to find a good spot for children to play.
It should be up and running on
Friday. Parents will be able to come enjoy with their children, or drop their
children off for up a period of time, in order to go and help out in the kitchen
or with some other task. Yogis will
be in charge of looking after the children, and it will also be appreciated
for people to sign up for shifts.
- Ponding: A yogini experienced in nature education
is going to be taking the children for a nature walk down to the ladies'
pond, with nets and magnifying
glasses, to investigae all the different kinds of life in the pond. A
fun way to cool off!
- A treasure hunt for children age 8-12, organized by Yuva Shakti.
This should be challenging...
- A Sahaj mini-Olympics, with races and games,
such as three-legged races, relays, etc.
- A basketball hoop has been purchased
and put up near the kitchen!
It should be a fun time for everyone, and as our children enjoy, we can prepare
for Puja with a peaceful, relaxed mind.
