October 4, 2003: Tonight, at Her new house in Ridgefield Park in New
Jersey, Shri Mataji's living room was filled to
overflowing with the local leaders of Sahaja Yoga and
their families in the Tri State area of the USA (New
York/New Jersey/Connecticut), plus visiting yogis from
other countries.
Shri Mataji spoke briefly but powerfully about the
Devi, the incarnation of the Goddess who came on the
earth to kill demons. She went on to say that we are
here to do this on a subtle level. A synopsis of what
Shri Mataji said follows.
"Today is the ninth day of Navaratri. The Devi
incarnated on this earth to kill the demonic
personalities who try to destroy all the good
qualities of women. We also have those demonic
personalities within us and they are to be destroyed -
not physically, but mentally. How you accept them and
how you deal with whatever they try is very
surprising. You must understand that the goodness of a
person is very important. If you are trying to be
nasty or dominating then you'll be definitely
destroyed. That's why this Devi has come on the earth.
That is the assurance of this Devi, the Goddess."
And then Shri Mataji suggested we sing one song.

After singing one glorious bhajan, "Jai Durge Durgati
Pariharini," Manoj asked if we could sing "Ai Giri
Nandini" and Shri Mataji indulged our collective
desire to sing Her praise. For aarti, while the aarti
lamp was moved in a bandhan before Shri Mataji, we did
not sing The Aarti, but sang the Three Great Mantras.
Several times Shri Mataji thanked us and blessed us.
And then She allowed us to sing yet another bhajan,
"
Durgati Harani Durga Ambe." It was deliriously joyous
and one felt immense power and confidence flowing in
the room.
During the puja, two gold leaves in the shape of apta
leaves were offered. This leaf is from the tree that
protected Shri Rama's weapons. Prasad was offered on
trays and Shri Mataji thoroughly vibrated each tray in
turn. The glorious moments of being in the darshan of
Shri Mataji stretched on and on. Honey from
Canajoharie was offered and Shri Mataji tasted it.
At the end, when Shri Mataji finally stood up, She
waved away all assistance and majestically stood up,
unaided.
The puja was brief but a number of Yogis commented
that the vibrations were amongst the most powerful
they had ever experienced. The living room and dining
room were filled with a sea of smiling faces. It was
one of those special moments where something clicked
and the singing, ably led by Amrith Chirukandoth from
Maryland, was at a new level of vigor.
The evening was yet another milestone in the history
of Sahaja Yoga. |
