In September we had programs on the island of Curacao - It was
a Divine
experience. From the moment we arrived on the 2nd of september, it was
evident that Parmachaitanya had prepared everything ahead of time.
We had tried to rent an apt, book a hall and make other arrangements from
aruba via the internet and tel with no success.
The islanders have their own code
of living- no hurry no worry. What needs
to be done today can also be done tomorrow, next month or the next year. So
naturally, email msgs are not replied to, calls not returned.
Finally , after surrendering everything to the Divine, Eloina, myself and 3
year old Aditya left for curacao not knowing where we would be staying for
about a month.
As it turned out, Eloina's brother-in-law had just returned from
Caracas
the night before and showed up at the airport to pick us up. He took us to
his place. Though he had come to Curacao just for a week he offered to stay
for as long as we needed to help. Everything after that fit into place like
the pieces of a child's puzzle. Sakshi and Julia who were moving to the
island for 7 months to conduct follow up programs arrived on the 4th and
had no place to stay as yet.
The very first house the real estate agent
showed us was perfect in everyway. The landlord turned out to be an angel
in disguise and provided every little thing we need including tel/internet
connections within a couple of days.
It was as though everyone we spoke to was the right person who could help
us sort the problem at that very moment. The first car we saw was perfect
and bought. Out of the 2 halls we saw, one was perfect and the people
adjusted the days , the rent and agreed to all that we asked for.
Aline, who is originally from Curacao but lives in Amsterdam, had her
prayers answered when she quite miraculously received some money and was
able to come down to Curacao and help with the programs. She plans to move
to Curacao next year to help with spreading sy on the island.
We approched 2 newspapers
to print half page ads and articles. The day
the first ad was printed, another local daily called us and asked if we
would be interested in placing the Sahaja Yoga ads and articles in their
newspaper if they gave us a good discount. We agreed to do so - it was
then we realised that these same newspapers are distributed daily on the
islands of St.Maarten and Bonaire, though these islands are independant
countries. So in fact these ads, with a large Picture of Shri Mataji and
the articles on Sahaja Yoga were being read by the people of St.Maarten
and Bonaire as well - almost like a pre-clearance of these 2 islands since
we hope to start progs in St Maarten in Jan'04 and Bonaire soon after.
While distributing
flyers and postering i dont remember anyone who refused
to allow us to put up the posters. A few days before the program we
received a beautiful gift from Shri Mataji. Elvia, a yogini from Colombia
who had been working in Curacao since 2 years and praying to Mother
everyday to send some Sahaja Yogis to Curacao, opened the newspaper and saw
the Sahaja Yoga advertisement . She called up immediately and was sobbing so
much Julia
could barely understand what she was trying to say. It was so tremendously
joyful to receive our sister whose prayers for Sahaja yogis on the island
had finally been answered ! She has now moved in with Julia and Sakshi.
The evening
before the public program we went to the beach as usual for a
footsoak . The sky was full of vibrations and a little above the horizon
we could see cloud formations of different deities, Shri Ganesha, Shri
Shiva and a Female Form beside Him, Shri Hanumama . As if all the Deities
were standing there showering their blessings on the island preparing it
for its rebirth. By this time we were 7 yogis and one child.
On the days of the
programs the vibrations were very strong . About a 100
seekers got their self realization. During the 5 minute meditation everyone
was so still and the vibrations so strong as if they had been meditating
for months.
The seekers were very enthusiastic and one could feel the depth with which
they had received their self realization.
The follow up programs are being conducted
in english and spanish and more
than 60 new yogis are still attending the follow up meetings. Many of them
attend the meetings twice a week in both the languages. Sakshi and Julia
were interviewed by the local radio stations. Marriot hotel has contacted
them to conduct programs for the hotel guests thrice a week.

When I came back to Aruba after the
month in curacao , it was amazing to
realize how light, relaxed and cleansed I felt as if I had just come back
from a long puja weekend. It had been a very hectic month. It was difficult
to answer the questions of the collective as there were very few
recollections of what had been done. Yet a lot had been done by the
Divine. We were the channels through which the words and the actions
flowed and am immensely grateful to have been one of the instruments in
this Divine experience.
The whole thing was so completely and totally effortless and easy !! and so
joyful and thoughtless.
I was very apprehensive about taking my 3 year old
son but since i had no other choice, took him anyway - the Divine took care
of it and even provided Aditya with a playground with farm animals next to
the house. Adi did his part by helping us hand out flyers and raising the
kundalinis of the the children who came to the beach in the evenings !
The islanders are very simple and large hearted and receive Sahaja Yoga and
Shri Mataji's words with such love that it is truly an awesome feeling
being able to help them.
There are many small islands in the Caribbean which are
independant
countries where sahaja Yoga is sorely needed. if anybody would like to
relocate for a few months to establish simple hearted people in Sahaja Yoga
who are waiting for it with such open hearts, pls contact us.

It is our desire to start Sahaja Yoga on the following
islands next year -
St Maarten - half dutch / half french - we hope to have programs there on
25th Jan'04. If all goes as expected, 2 yoginis will be moving there in Jan
to start the programs. need yogis to help, stay, give bandhans....
Guadaloupe - French - 2 yoginis have been living there since some time and
would like help with public programs and follow up meetings to establish a
collective there.
If even one french speaking yogi/ni could move to this
island it would be a tremendous blessing for all .
Jamaica !! - There is a yogi living in Kingston - has been meditating alone
since '99 and would like help in starting sahaja yoga on the island.
Cuba - hopefully in feb .
Bonaire - dutch island - need yogis
Grenada - British island-need yogis
St Croix - US virgin island-need yogis
We hope with all our hearts to receive
and welcome many many yogis to the
Caribbean islands to spread our Mother's Love and become the instruments
of the Divine in enlightening the Centre Vishuddhi of the Virata.
